President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Barr. Uchenna Orji as the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Hon. Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Nweze Umahi. This announcement marks a new chapter in Barr. Orji’s distinguished career.
Orji’s appointment to the position of Chief Press Secretary was officially made on Thursday in Abuja, signifying a pivotal moment in his career. His extensive experience in various roles has prepared him for this crucial role.
Prior to his current appointment, Barr. Orji served as the Former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in Ebonyi state between 2019 and 2023. He also played a vital role as the Deputy Director of the Tinubu/Shetima Presidential Campaign Council Sub-Committee on CSO’s in 2023.
Barr. Orji holds an impressive educational background, having achieved a Barrister at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School in 2004 and an LLB (Hons) from Abia State University, Uturu in 2002.
His career has been marked by a strong emphasis on building relationships with print, electronic, and online media practitioners, showcasing competencies in media relations, corporate communication, reputation management, and crisis management.
Barr. Uchenna Orji’s public service record is notable. He served as a Chief Whip in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011 and worked as the Commissioner for Economic Empowerment and Job Creation in Ebonyi State from 2017 to 2018. He also took on the role of Focal Person for Federal Government Programs on Human Capital Development in 2020. Furthermore, he served as the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Census Publicity Sub-Committee in 2023 and as the Director of the Directorate of Information for the Divine Mandate Campaign Council in the same year.
Barr. Orji is an active member of various organizations, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Abakaliki Branch, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). He holds the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Okwuru Oha 1 of Ishiagu.”
Despite his impressive professional achievements, Barr. Orji also values his family life. The 47-year-old is married and has six children. He hails from Amaedim Ngwogwo Community in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
