A delegation of Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) on Wednesday, visited the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in appreciation for protecting northern interests in the state during the #Obigbomassacre.
The Delegation led by the chairman, Board of Trustees of CNG, Nastura Sheriff, showed appreciation to the Governor for the gruesome killings of Igbo indigenes in Obigbo.
Wike who said he has no regrets proscribing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state due to his belief in the unity of Nigeria, had ordered the extermination of Igbos in Obigbo Local Government Area under the pretext of an Executive Order to arrest and prosecute IPOB members whom he falsely accused of killing security men during the EndSARS protest.
In appreciation, CNG spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, said they were in the State to express their profound gratitude to the governor for his leadership, sacrifice, statesmanship, and unwavering commitment deployed in protecting Northern communities from the violence and violation of their rights and dignity during the mayhem in Obigbo.
“Your concerned promptness in redeeming the solemn pledge of N200 million to the families of security personnel affected negatively by the flip side of the protests is certainly reassuring.
“We reasonably believe that if the federal authorities were to emulate the wisdom of offering such incentive to our troops on the front line, it would heighten their morale which is at present very low.
The CNG craved the governor’s indulgence as the caring and compassionate leader, to extend the same magnanimity to the unfortunate victims of the ugly side of the protests from Northern Nigeria to enable them start over.
“Similarly, we are impressed by your level of rare courage and uncompromising stance in the repudiation of the activities of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its fugitive leader Nnamdi Kanu in your state.
“This, without doubt, is a commendable feat, because if leaders today need to hear the truth, they should be told that most of them have lost the energy and some of them, courage to take responsibility in the interest of national sovereignty, national security, national peace and constitutionalism”, he stated.
The CNG statement was quickly condemned by Obinwannem Ndi Igbo Global Movement in a statement by the Secretary-Genera, Mbanefo Chijioke, who called the delegation’s remarks ”insulting to the Igbo nation” mourning the deaths of their brothers and sisters in the #Obigbomassacre
According to the statement,
”Obinwamnem Ndi Igbo Global condemns the audacity of the Delegation of Nothern Coalition, one of the many branches of the Fulani hegemony partnering with Gov. Wike in killing Igbos and plundering their lands in Igweocha, Rivers State.
The public display of support for Wike in the wake of #Obigbomassacre is insulting to the Igbo nation as we mourn the deaths of our brothers and sisters”, Mbanefo added.
Obinwannem Ndi Igbo Global is seeking a global uprising that reignites the Igbo spirit in their people all over the world, a mass return back-to-roots that will raise 20 men in all places where Igbos reside, helping to provide security, safety and assistance for all.
