An ex-Nigerian ambassador has tested positive to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Kano State.

The Governor of the State, Abdullahi Ganduje disclosed the news noting that the state would ensure more drastic measures are taken to prevent further spread of the disease.

Obinwannem gathered that this is the first known case of the Coronavirus in Kano, the most populous state in Nigeria.

Ganduje, however, did not reveal the name of the former ambassador but says that the victim is 75 years of age.

“Indeed, it is a sad moment for us. This is an occasion that we are not happy with. I am unhappy to inform the people of Kano state that today, we got a patient who tested positive to COVID-19. He is a 75-year- old retiree and former Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Ganduje said.

The Governor ordered that henceforth, tricycles be mandated to carry only one passenger as a scheme to prevent further spread of the virus.

The Ex Nigerian ambassador is said to have traveled to Lagos, Kaduna and Abuja and returned back to Kano State on the 25th of March.
