Police Headquarters located at Umulowe autonomous community in Imo state, was attacked yesterday night by unidentified gunmen.
Reports gathered by Obinwannem News states that, the hoodlums came in a vehicle, were denied acess into the building by two policemen on duty. Annoyed by the resistance, the hoodlums opened fire, shot the two policemen, who died at the spot; while three other policemen were injured during the raid.
However, one of the hoodlums was killed, and the gunmen drove off with the corpse of their members.
In confirmation to what transpired, Imo State police Spokesperson Orlando Ikeokwu said ,”It is true the gunmen was repelled, they couldn’t gain entry , but two officers lost their lives and three others injured”.
He also disclosed the transfer of the three policemen from a local hospital to a State hospital for better treatment.
Ikeokwu added that the command had drafted cracked teams of detectives in the area, and had commenced investigation.
