A three-storey building near the popular Ahiaeke market on Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Expressway on the outskirts of Umuahia, the Abia State capital has collapsed.
The eight-flat apartment was being inhabited by some families as of the time of the incident.
No casualty has been reported as at press time but sources attributed the building collapse to use of substandard materials.
The building was said to have collapsed under Saturday’s night rainfall in the Umuahia and adjourning cities.
Reports say the building, though yet-to-be completed, has lasted for over 30 years with people living in it.
