The Labour Party’s Presidential candidate for the February 25, 2023 election, Peter Obi, has urged the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to disclose the nation’s inherited deficit.
This comes in response to National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s statement that the current administration inherited a financially distressed country from former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obi, in tweets, emphasized the need for transparency, criticizing the government for not revealing the deficit inherited in 2015.
He called for responsible governance, highlighting the importance of disclosing inherited deficits to gauge the nation’s trajectory.
Obi also urged the government to focus on critical sectors like education and security while reducing the overall cost of governance.
