Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, has initiated a constitutional review process, aiming to address contemporary developments not foreseen in the 2003 amendment, which occurred 20 years ago.

Chiedozie Ogbonnia, the national publicity secretary, urged stakeholders to submit their recommendations to Ezechi Chukwu, the committee’s secretary, before December 31, 2023.

The review, led by Chief Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, aims to update the constitution, initially amended in 2003 due to a constitutional crisis at Imeobi Ohanaeze.

The NEC emphasizes the need to align the constitution with present realities, inviting input from various Igbo entities before the deadline on December 31, 2023.
