In an exclusive interview with Obinwannem News during the opening of Obinwannem Media Company’s Nigeria Head Office in Nsukka, Enugu State, Igwe Chukwu nwe eze 1, HRH Dr. Amb. Patrick Okoro, ruler of Mkpunano ancient kingdom, highlighted the significance of preserving Igbo culture.
Reaffirming the Igbo principle, he stated, “Just like the Bible said, ‘thou shall not remove the ancient landmark.’ In Igbo land, we don’t sell land; we lease it.” Dispelling misconceptions, he clarified, “There’s nothing like arusi; we say ‘arụ kwusi,’ meaning ‘evil should stop.'”
The monarch pledged unwavering support to the Obinwannem Foundation, endorsing their mission to reinvent, promote, and preserve Igbo culture. He expressed gratitude to Mazi Ugwu Okechukwu, founder and CEO of Obinwannem Foundation, and the media crew for their dedication. Promising to connect them with other traditional rulers in the southeast, he urged the government to involve traditional rulers in governance for cultural promotion.
