Police in Ebonyi state has confirmed the arrest of a male suspect in connection with the rape crime which resulted in the death of the 56year old victim, the shocking incident took place in Ufuezeraku, Ugwulangwu, a community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.

According to a source in the community, the said herdsman allegedly carried out this horrific crime on the 28th December 2019, details of the incident is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing of this report.

A Police spokesperson in the state, Loveth Odah, confirmed that the suspect was arrested on 29th December and will soon be charged to court.

Odah gave the name of the victim as Mrs Okereke and the suspect’s name as Isa. Law enforcement moved quickly to ensure peace in the community where residents have expressed shock at the news. The Command deployed more officers in the area to maintain law and order.

Town Union Chairman of the area, Chief Peter Obasi also confirmed the incident, he, however, called for peace amongst the people while urging the Police to hold the perpetrators to justice.
