On Tuesday morning, armed thugs invaded Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom state, killed a chief superintendent of Police, Benedict Okoh Ajide and other police officers.

Some yet to be identified millitary officer were also killed in the raid.

The policemen and soldiers were said to be in the community for peace keeping efforts.

A source said, “Unknown gunmen attacked some police officers and soldiers today. Their Hilux vans were also set ablaze.

The Minister of Niger Delta Godswill Akpabio, happens to come from the local government area.
