Mysterious death struck fifty (50) cows on Monday evening in Akungba Akoko, Akoko South West local government area of Ondo State.

A resident of Akungba, Oshik Fela Castro, told Sahara reporters that the cows died after eating something suspected to be poisionious.

She advised people in the area not to buy beef for now, because some dubious meat sellers might buy the dead cows at a cheap price and sell to innocent people.

She also appealed to the people living in the area within AUD at Edua in Akungba to monitor how the 50 cows will be disposed.

Similarly, in 2019, about 36 cows were reportedly killed by a thunder storm at Ijare, in the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Community leaders suggested that the disaster was due to desecration of sacred shrine by Fulani herders who had intruded into the shrine of the ancient diety.

Despite the supernatural interpretation by the traditionalists, police said the thunderstorm that killed the cow was natural.

Meanwhile, Ondo state Police had begun investigation into the mysterious death of the cows belonging to one Ibrahim Saliu, who discovered that the cows started decaying within 30 minutes after they had taken poison.

The Spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the incident.

Ikoro noted the cows were given poisoned water, adding that that further investigation into the matter had commenced, and assured that the culprits would be brought to justice.
