Breaking News: CPS station set ablaze as EndSars protest turns violent in Abakiliki

Tension has gripped residents following an attack on the Central Police Station (CPS) today by peaceful protesters who had reportedly been provoked by officers in the Abakiliki area, the capital city of Ebonyi State.

Unconfirmed reports have it that what began as a peaceful protest to demand the disbandment of special police unit, SARS, and government reforms, quickly took a wrong turn when an officer from the police unit fired gunshots at the youths who retaliated by setting the police station ablaze.

Earlier today, Obinwannem news correspondents had reported the compliance of Ebonyi residents in the cleanup exercise instigated by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

According to reports, shortly after the cleanup, the youths had kicked off the #EndSARS protest from the State capital until they arrived the CPS and razed it down.
