Palpable tension gripped the residents of Umueze Nguru community in Imo State, Wednesday night, over the abduction of the traditional ruler, Eze Charles Iroegbu, along side his cabinet chiefs from Aboh Mbaise local government area of the State, by unknown gunmen.
News made available to Obinwannem had it that the king, and some of his cabinet were returning from a traditional wedding ceremony from Mbano, when they were kidnapped. The kidnapped monarch is said to be the owner and Chief Executive Officer of All State Mass Transit.
The entire community have been in a sorrowful mood since the incident. A source disclosed that the gun wielding kidnappers ambushed the traditional ruler and his cabinet chiefs. It was also revealed that the kidnappers took the traditional ruler and his cabinet chiefs away, leaving behind, the three vehicles they boarded.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the kidnappers are yet to make any demands. Similarly, the State Police Spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwe, has not made any comments in that regard.
