• Trump disallows victory, vows to engage a legal battle
It has been nip and tuck for the last five days, in the race to White House. But, it appears the finishing line race has been reached.
The US media project Democratic Joe Biden to have secured enough electoral votes to become the 46th President of the United States (POTUS), defeating the incumbent President Trump of the Republican party.
Biden overtook Trump by winning the all-important ’20 electoral votes’ in Pennsylvania State on Saturday; which gave him 273 electoral votes, surpassing the 270 majority needed to win
Nonetheless, Trump has refused to accept the victory, vowing to continue challenging the cast ballots in several States. Hos campaign team released a statement, saying; “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely ppse as the winner, and why his edia allies are trying so hard to help him. They don’t want the truth to be exposed.”
Meanwhile, Biden has reacted to his recent winning. He said, “I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris.
“In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted. Proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America.”
He added, “With the campaign over, it’s time to put the anger and the harsh rhetoric behind us and come together as a nation. It’s time for America to unite and to heal.”
Biden’s running mate, Mrs Kamala Harris, will be the first woman and first Black and Asian-American to occupy the vice presidency of the United States of America.
