Obinwannem News Court grants Derek Chauvin bail of $1m

Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis has granted Derek Chauvin a bail of $1 million with some stringent conditions and $1.25 million without conditions, for the murder of George Floyd.

The police officer who made his first court appearance on Monday was charged with the murder of George Floyd, the 46-year-old African-American man whose death had sparked nationwide protests.

Derek, who on May 25, was filmed pressing his knee on handcuffed Floyd’s neck until he passed away, appeared from a Minnesota state prison to face charges of one count of second-degree murder, one count of third-degree murder, and one count of manslaughter.

Obinwannem news understands that the 44 years old Derek was not allowed to submit a plea.

Further investigation proves that conditions applied to the bail include surrendering his firearms, not to work in law enforcement or security in any capacity, and having no contact with the family of Floyd.
