Enugu, Nigeria – September 25, 2023 – Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo Worldwide is proud to announce the upcoming Igbo Day Celebration 2023, a momentous occasion set to take place on the 29th of September, 2023, at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, under the theme “IGBO KUNIE.”
This year’s celebration promises to be a convergence of Igbo culture, heritage, and unity, with the gracious host, His Excellency Barr Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State. Co-hosted by eminent leaders from various Igbo-speaking states, including HE Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, HE Governor (Prof) Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, HE Rt Hon Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, HE Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, HE Governor Sherif Oborevwori of Delta State, and HE Governor Simi Fubara of Rivers State.
The event will be graced by members of the National Assembly, honourable Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, prominent clergymen from Igbo land, and captains of industry, along with other distinguished sons and daughters of Ndigbo.
The Royal Fathers of the Day include His Royal Highness Igwe Laurence Agubuzo, Chairman South East Council of Traditional Rulers, and His Royal Majesty Igwe Dr. Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, alongside other eminent Royal Fathers.
As a prelude to the grand celebration, a high-powered lecture on “IGBO KUNIE” will be delivered by His Lordship Most Rev Prof. Geoffrey Onah, the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, on the 28th of September at the Old Governor’s Lodge, Enugu, starting at 4:00 pm.
