After weeks of speculation and debate over the health status and whereabouts of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, the Statehouse in Abuja has today issued a notice the President will be on air to address the nation at 7 pm Sunday, March 29.
The notice reads, “President @MBuhari will broadcast to the nation later today at 7 pm. All TV, radio and other media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the NTA and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.”
Many continue to demand information about the president’s COVID19 status after reports his closest official and chief of staff, Abba Kyari tested positive for the virus. It is yet unknown what the Buhari led administration’s response will be to the global crisis.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina had earlier stoked the fire by saying addressing the nation during such severe crisis is not Buhari’s style.
The sudden change in style will be expected to address a situation that has claimed 1 life and threatening to put the entire country on lockdown.
