Obinwannem News Health: Cause of Peptic Ulcer necessary for everyone to know

A peptic ulcer is one of the most dangerous sicknesses that people suffer these days. Many people lives with peptic ulcers today.

In peptic ulcer disease, the common digestive disorder in which acid and pepsin (an important digestive enzyme) cause the lining of the stomach, or the first part of the small intestine, known as the duodenum, to wear off.
This condition results in sores called peptic ulcers.

If a peptic ulcer is located in the stomach, it is called a gastric ulcer, and if located at the duodenum, it is called a duodenal ulcer.

This disease can cause obvious upper abdominal pain, but symptoms may vary somewhat between the two types of peptic ulcers and may need to be treated differently.

The two most common causes are now known to be infection by the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterium and chronic use of certain pain relievers.

Treating peptic ulcer include antibiotics and sometimes surgery.

The chronic use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is another common cause of peptic ulcers, raising your risk 20 times that of non-users. These include over-the-counter NSAIDS products such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium.
It can make the stomach’s defense system fail in a couple of various ways.

Furthermore, they can make the stomach vulnerable to the harmful effects of acid and pepsin by interfering with the stomach’s ability to produce mucus and bicarbonate.

Usually, natural bicarbonate normally neutralizes digestive fluids and breaks them down into less harmful substances. This substance can also affect cell repair and blood flow to the stomach, which normally helps protect it.

Other risk factors for NSAID-induced peptic ulcers are listed as follows: Age 70 or over, female, taking more than two types of NSAIDs, taking NSAIDs regularly for a long time, past peptic ulcer, two or more underlying medical conditions, taking corticosteroids or medicines to increase your bone mass, and then last but not least, drinking alcohol or smoking.
