In a successful joint operation on November 26, 2023, by Police and Department of State Service (DSS) operatives in Enugu, three male armed robbery suspects were neutralized at Second Avenue, Independence Layout, Enugu, following a confrontation around 1 p.m.
The criminals, who had earlier attacked POS operators across Enugu metropolis, were dispossessed of their loot, including two locally-made revolver pistols, six rounds of .9mm calibre ammunition, an operational tricycle with Enugu registration number MGL 100 WL and fleet number ENS/20560, along with items suspected to be charms.
The recovered exhibits also included approximately five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000.00) in cash, rolls of POS transaction printing papers, assorted mobile phones, wallets, bags, and other belongings taken from POS operators and customers at various locations.
The joint security forces, having identified the criminals, maintained surveillance and engaged in a gunfight at 2nd Independence Layout, ultimately neutralizing the three suspects and reclaiming the stolen items.
Many victims have identified the apprehended individuals and recovered items, while an ongoing discreet investigation aims to uncover other members of the criminal gang.
