The United States Mission to Nigeria has celebrated Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu, for being part of the team that helped pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, develop the COVID-19 vaccine.

The US via its facebook page, wrote “Nigerians contribute to the world in so many ways. Our hats off to Dr. Onyema Ogbuagu at Yale who helped develop a COVID-19 vaccine.”

In a previous report by Obinwannem News, Ogbuagu was named as part of a research team that developed and actualized a remedial vaccine for the COVID crisis.

Ogbuagbu is of Igbo extraction, he graduated from the University of Calabar in 2003, migrated to the US and became an Associate Professor of Medicine and Infectious Disease Specialist at Yale University.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by the virus mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or exhales.

These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air and quickly fall on floors or surfaces.

The resulting global health crisis caused by the virus has affected people in countries around the world including the US, UK, and Russia.

Over 1.4 million people have died worldwide due to covid infection.
