Today, on the 5th of October 2023, at Eagle Square, the prestigious Government Secondary School Afikpo (GSSA) has been honored with the award for the Best Public Secondary School in Nigeria at this year’s World Teachers Day celebration.
The entire staff and students of GSSA extend their heartfelt congratulations to their visionary and 21st-century digital principal, HON Ogbonnaya Nwachi, who has been recognized as one of the best principals in Nigeria. This award was presented by His Excellency Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the President, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They applaud Principal Nwachi’s outstanding leadership that led the school to achieve this prestigious recognition. The school community is immensely grateful to the Old Boys Association (OBA) and the Alumni Association of Afikpo (AAA) for their continuous support, providing an enabling environment, and crucial facilities that contributed to this achievement.
A shining example is the ongoing solar electrification extension project, which will benefit more classrooms, offices, hostels, and science laboratories. This project was made possible through Principal Nwachi’s excellent report at the Marriott Westchase in Houston, Texas, USA, where he attracted support from GSS Triple A.
The school community also expresses their gratitude to the Chief Supervising Principal (CSP) of Afikpo Zonal Board at Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board, Mr. Ọkpara Ogbonnaya, and the entire Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPS). They further acknowledge the unwavering support of Commissioner for Education, Ebonyi State, Professor Paul Awọ Nwobasi, and Acting Chairman of Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board, Abakaliki, HON Juliana Eke.
