APC Chieftain Calls for Recognition and Reward of Election Heroes in Ezza North APC Chieftain Calls for Recognition and Reward of Election Heroes in Ezza North

In a bid to acknowledge the efforts of those who fought bravely and secured victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections in various wards of Ezza North, a call has been made for the government of His Excellency Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to recognize and reward these election heroes.

One of the prominent voices advocating for the recognition of these unsung heroes is Comrade Nwakpa Theophilus Oluchi, a chieftain and grassroots mobilizer of the APC in Okposi Ward, Ebonyi State. When approached by Obinwannem News correspondent, he expressed his strong belief that party appointments should be based on merit and performance.

Nwakpa claimed that he garnered the highest number of votes in his polling unit for the House of Assembly and other positions during the 2023 elections, quoting the SSA to the governor Hon Bar Friday Linus Nwuhuo as his witness. He challenged anyone who disputes his claim to come forward with evidence. He asserted that appointments should be granted to those who have demonstrated unwavering loyalty and support to the party, emphasizing the Igbo adage, “Onye ruo, ó’rìè” (hé who accomplishes, should be rewarded ).

The recent issue that sparked tensions at the government-established stone crushing company in Okposi Umuoghara community, Ezza North, has brought attention to the significance of peace and unity within the community. The timely intervention of Umuoghara youth, a group dedicated to promoting harmony, prevented the situation from escalating. The matter attracted the attention of traditional rulers, villagers, and various stakeholders, and the local government chairman Chief Moses O. Nome promised to resolve the issue through consultation with all parties involved.

Speculations have arisen regarding the cause of the conflict, with some suggesting it may be linked to party politics. However, Nwakpa stated that the issue at hand should not be politicized, and he urged Governor Nwifuru, whom he described as a true democrat, to ensure a just resolution by considering the recommendations from the appointment reconciliation committee, led by Hon Peter Nworie.

Nwakpa expressed his commitment to the APC since 2015 and claimed to have contributed significantly to the party’s success financially and morally, even during the time when the party was not widely embraced in Ebonyi State. He also mentioned that he introduced and campaigned for other prominent party members, solidifying their support for the APC.

While acknowledging the efforts of Umuoghara youth in promoting peace, Nwakpa pledged to collaborate with the group to achieve a peaceful coexistence in the Okposi and Umuoghara community.

The call for the APC-led government to reward election heroes has gained traction in Ezza North, with many hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the recent issues. As developments unfold, Obinwannem news is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates accordingly.
