Obinwannem News NB Plc has made UEFA Champions League household name in Nigeria, says Morgan

The Corporate Affairs Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Sade Morgan, has said the UEFA Champions League is now a household name in Nigeria because of the huge investment the company made over the years.

She stated that the company would continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility with continuous support for Nigerian sports.

The brewing company organised a media parley in Lagos on Tuesday in commemoration of its 75th Anniversary. Apart from the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League remains the most followed sporting event across the globe because of the great memories it brings to fans on yearly basis.

Morgan stated that the company has been deeply involved in the sponsorship of the prestigious UEFA Champions League because of its determination to bring joy and excitement to fans. “Our commitment to the UEFA Champions League with our international partner, Heineken, has been unbroken over the years. NB Plc has been the sole reason the UCL is brought to Nigerian fans.

“Apart from the UCL, our Maltina School Games has impacted so much on many Nigerian youths,” she said. According to Morgan, the “33” Export Lager and Amstel Malta are the official drink of the Nigerian national teams.

“We are everywhere, and NB Plc will continue to lead by example because we cut across every sector of the economy. We will continue with this tradition of giving back to the society and our pledges to raise the profile of sports through these sponsorships will remain,” she stated.

Morgan said several programmes have been lined-up to mark the 75th anniversary, beginning from November 16. Morgan disclosed that the company has attained about 56 per cent in local sourcing of raw materials and injected $114 million in capital investments and expansion projects in its bid to build a resilient economy.
She added that despite the COVID-19 pandemic that ravaged the entire world in 2020, the company kept to its strategy of delivering satisfaction and growth.

On his part, the Managing Director of NB Plc, Hans Essaadi, stated that the company is committed to Nigeria in its entirety, just as he pledged that in line with the idea of togetherness, efforts would be made to increase its presence economically across Nigeria.

He commended the Nigeria media for their support to the company in the last 75 years. In his remarks, the Chairman of NB Plc, Chief Kolawole Jamodu affirmed the company’s commitment to the Nigeria project, saying: “More investment will be embarked upon by the company.”
