The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has denied the report that it devalued the Naira.

The CBN’s acting Director of Corporate Communication, Dr Isa AbdulMumumin while reacting to an allegation by Abuja based newspaper, captioned, “‘CBN Devalues Naira To 630/5,” stated categorically that the assertion was FALSE and Misleading.

He said the reporters were paid agents of destabilization who do not understand the workings of Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market.

While throwing more light on the situation, AbdulMumumin said, “For the avoidance of doubt, the exchange rate at the Investors’ & Exporters (I&E) window traded this morning (June 1, 2023) at N465/USS1 and has been stable around this rate for a while.

The CBN spokesman advised the public to ignore the news report in its entirety, as it is speculative and targeted at causing panic in the market.

He further advised newsmen and journalists to always authenticate their facts from the Central Bank of Nigeria before publishing.
