3 pilots of the 17-man crew that returned from the trip to China on Wednesday have reportedly snubbed the government’s mandatory quarantine process.

According to reports, the flight, a Boeing 777-200ER operated by Air Peace, an indigenous airline company arrived in Abuja carrying onboard a team of medical experts and 16 tons of medical supplies from China as part of government measures to halt the rising cases of COVID19 in the country.

The medical team was to be quarantined in Abuja while the flight crew proceeded to Lagos State to be quarantined at a Lagos facility in line with directives from the Federal Ministry of Health.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, made a pronouncement of a mandatory 14-days quarantine while receiving the flight crew and passengers in Abuja.

He said, “They knew that before they came and have undergone tests before they left their country. “Nevertheless, they will be in quarantine for 14 days. “The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has gone to see where they will be quarantined.”

“The equipment will assist a lot to fill some existing gaps. We now have 50 more ventilators.” He added.
