In a disturbing incident captured on video and circulating on social media, gunmen disguised as police officers launched a brazen attack on the True Way Traditional Worship Center, led by Mathias Ezeaku Ejiofor, the charismatic leader of the religious group “Culture is the Way of Truth.”
The assailants, armed with two Siena cars and one Toyota Camry, forcefully stormed the church at 8 o’clock in the morning, instigating a small riot. Eyewitnesses reported that the armed men, seemingly acting with authority, began charging the attendees, signalling that they were there to declare Ezeaku their leader.
Amidst the chaos, one attendee was shot, and the victim was promptly rushed to an undisclosed hospital. The Anambra State Police initially claimed ignorance of Ezeaku Ejiofor’s arrest when contacted by the BBC. Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the state police, requested an opportunity to inquire about the situation.
Mathias Ezeaku Ejiofor, a native of Enugu State, is not only the leader of “Culture is the Way of Truth” but also a successful businessman. Born in the Catholic Church, he later returned to traditional beliefs, asserting that the Igbo people held spiritual beliefs before the advent of Christianity introduced by the colonial powers.
Ezeaku is further recognized for his philanthropy, as he is the founder of the non-governmental organization “Igbo Love Themselves,” dedicated to assisting the less fortunate in society.
As the situation unfolds, the followers of Ezeaku and the True Way Traditional Worship Center are left in desperation, seeking answers about their leader’s whereabouts and the motives behind this shocking incident. The Anambra State Police’s investigation into the matter is eagerly awaited by the public.
