Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Khalid Ishaq Diso, who is a chairman representing Gwale constituency for three months. His suspension was due to illegal land sales and taking unilateral decisions.
Reports from Channels TV say that the suspension of Khalid Ishad Diso was effected after the Committee on Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs adopted the malpractice report against Mr Diso during a plenary session on Tuesday.
The decision came after six members of the Chancellor’s Council petitioned the House and leveled misconduct allegations against Khalid Diso.
While addressing the Kano State Assembly on the petition, the speaker of the house, Jubril Ismali Falgore stated, ” The council chairman was accused of making unilateral decisions without carrying the councilors along”.
The nature of the allegations necessitated the House of Assembly to constitute an ad hoc investigation committee into the matter to ascertain the authenticity of the claim.
Prelude to the investigation outcome, the House directed the Vice Chairman of the Gwale local government council to take over the reins of leadership from Khalid Diso for three months. The suspension was enforced to ensure unbiased inquiry and investigation of the allegations.
Diso’s suspension elicited mixed reactions among the committee members who await the outcome of the investigations.
