Obinwannem News Imo monarchs urge Uzodinma to rebuild deplorable roads

Community leaders of the three local governments in Mbaise; Abboh, Ahiazu, Ezinhitte Mbaise solicit the intervention of Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma, for the urgent rehabilitation of Okpala – Ahiara – Abbah Branch road and other local roads.

The monarchs, operating under the auspices of Mbaise council of traditional rulers, also urged the federal government to engage more youths in the police force and other paramilitary agencies to tackle insecurity.

This was disclosed by Eze Leo Nwokocha, Traditional ruler of Umuneato Nguru Community in Abboh Mbaise local government; in his inauguration ceremony for a second term to head the council. He told reporters that the bad roads had increased commuters sufferings.

He said that the bad condition of the roads had affected residents, and economic activities.

While commending the efforts of Uzodinma for providing infrastructural development; particularly, in Owerri, and some parts of the State, he also asked the governor to come to their aid, to reconstruct the road before the raining period emerges.

Eze Nwokocha said: “The roads in Mbaise are nothing to write home about; especially these Okpala – Ahiara junction, Abba branch, that passes through five local government to Aba, Okigwe and even Orlu.

“Other inner roads are equally in bad conditions. If this rain continues, we will not be able to go to markets or farm. My humble self and a few others have being using our personal resources to grade roads in our localities.

“But, Mbaise is a very vast area that no individual, can afford to maintain the roads there. We are appealing to our governor to attend to the roads in Mbaise. We want the roads to be reconstructed or rehabilitated and we belief that our governor will look into it.”
