The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma retrieves illegal acquired landed properties from land grabbers and from previous office holders at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO.
This was confirmed in his address speech while on visit at the Federal University of Technology in Owerri on Wednesday.
Uzodinma said, “Our people need medical school and teaching hospital sited in the University, therefore I am here to ensure that the land grabbing in the institution stops and also recover them for the development of our people.
The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Placid Njoku, Innocent Ikpamezia and other government appointees accompanied the Governor to the sites in the institution, and recovered the lands.
However, the new Vice Chancellor of FUTO, Prof Nnenna Oti in her welcome remarks said that the major challenge is the disagreements between the host communities and FUTO on the issue. She commended the Uzodinma for being the first Governor to visit the institution and applauded him for his efforts in recovering the properties as well as restoring peace.
