The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has declared that there will be a ban on vehicular movement in the three states of Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa during the off-season governorship elections holding on Saturday.
Additionally, the IGP announced that water transportation via canoes, ships, boats, and other vessels will be restricted in these states starting from Friday.
These measures are part of the comprehensive strategy aimed at ensuring a fair, credible, and unhindered electoral process in the mentioned states.
In furtherance of these security measures, the police chief has also limited the activities of certain state-owned security organizations during the election exercise.
He made these disclosures during an ongoing press briefing at Force Headquarters and emphasized the deployment of marine and gunboats in the riverine regions of these states.
Furthermore, the three states have been equipped with various security assets, including helicopters for aerial surveillance.
