A significant criminal drama in has ensued in the United States where Hunter Biden, the son of the U.S. President, is being charged for criminally deceiving a gun dealer into selling him a firearm. This marks the first-ever prosecution of a sitting president’s child. This seems like an unfolding political drama, a new layer of complexity to the country’s political landscape.

The indictment, filed on Thursday in U.S. at the District Court in Delaware, includes three criminal counts related to Hunter Biden’s alleged false statements about his drug use during the firearm purchase. This deception, if proven true, would have prohibited him from legally owning a firearm.

These charges are expected to set the stage for a dramatic courtroom battle that will play a significant role in the 2024 U.S. presidential campaign because his father, President Joe Biden, at 80 years old, is seeking reelection. The 2024 U.S. election is likely to be a rematch with his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, aged 77. Trump himself is currently facing four upcoming criminal trials, further intensifying the political atmosphere.

It’s worth noting that the criminal charges against 53 years old Hunter, Biden were due to investigations by the recently elevated U.S. Special Counsel, David Weiss did not violations of U.S. tax law. This development follows the collapse of a previous deal in which Hunter Biden would have pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and participated in a program to avoid prosecution on the gun-related charge. This turn of events occurred during a July hearing, leaving legal proceedings in a state of uncertainty.

The prosecution alleges that Hunter Biden lied about his drug use when purchasing a Colt Cobra handgun in October 2018, a claim that has garnered significant attention. This development emerges just two days after House of Representatives Republicans initiated an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, with a focus on Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.

Recall, the Hunter is an American attorney and a lobbyist, since 2020 has been facing criminal investigations related to potential violations of tax and money laundry laws and his business dealings in foreign countries, principally China

Hunter, Biden has long been a target of relentless attacks by former President Donald Trump and his Republican allies, who have accused him of various wrongdoings related to Ukraine and China, among other matters. Despite claims and investigations, there has been no concrete evidence produced to establish personal benefit to President Joe Biden in these alleged matters.

As the legal proceedings continue, the impact on the U.S. political landscape remains uncertain, with both sides of the aisle closely watching the unfolding events surrounding Hunter Biden’s legal troubles.
