Enugu State Police Command operatives, on Tuesday, disclosed the arrest of seven criminal suspects linked to assaults and robberies in various locations, including the Holy Ghost railway axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park, and their environs, carried out by officers from the Central Police Station (CPS) on Friday, October 27, 2023.
The apprehended individuals identified as Okonkwo Sunday, known as “Oga Sunny”; Nwankwoala Tochukwu, recognized as “TC Boy”; Ogbu Mmaduabuchi; Miracle Chukwu; Nwali Chinedu; Ananchonam Chinecherem, known as “Razor”; and Nwamini Junior, known as “Small”, were reported to have no fixed address.
Following the operation, the police recovered a variety of items, including nine female handbags, two wallets, two wheel spanners, an iron saw, and a functional Dell laptop. The seized items also encompass a Zenith Bank ATM card registered under the name “Joy Akiji,” a National Identification Number (NIN) registration slip, and additional incriminating evidence linked to their victims.
A statement from the Enugu State Police Command’s spokesperson indicated that all suspects have confessed to their crimes, been formally charged, and subsequently remanded in the Correctional Custodial Centre.
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the dedication of the police operatives, urging them to sustain their efforts. He further called on the public to collaborate with the police in their commitment to eradicating unrepentant criminals from the state.
