Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has inaugurated a 70,000 cubic meters water plant in the region during the launch of the ‘9th Mile 24/7 Water Scheme’ on Saturday.

Mbah highlighted the accomplishment of increasing the state’s potable water production capacity from two million to 120 million liters per day, fulfilling his electoral pledge to provide safe water to every household within 180 days of taking office.

Emphasizing the critical need for improved water supply due to the deplorable conditions endured for almost two decades, Mbah assured residents that the newly inaugurated project, supported by a 4.4MW gas-powered plant, would ensure uninterrupted water supply.

Additionally, he announced plans for the next phase, involving the commissioning of new pumps in the Oji Water Scheme to generate an extra 50,000 cubic meters of water daily.

Despite acknowledging challenges in some towns outside the pipeline network, Mbah pledged to address lingering water issues and urged residents to be prepared for associated costs in ensuring reliable water supply.
