Obinwannem News Tension over abduction of 15 passengers in Imo

Following the spate of insecurity across the country, palpable fear has gripped residents of Eke-Onuimo local government area of Imo State, over a reported abduction of about fifteen (15) passengers, along Enugu – Port Harcourt road by suspected herdsmen on Thursday.

The passengers were said to have been traveling on two separate busses, when the herdsmen stopped them, along Arondiziogu Okigwe road.

An eyewitness who confirmed the incident said the herdsmen marched all passengers of one bus, into the Bush, while the passengers on the second bus, managed to escape. The whereabouts of other passengers remain unknown.

Information gathered by Obinwannem correspondent in Imo, Samuel Onyeka, said, “Fulani herdsmen intercepted two sienna buses, heading from Owerri to Okigwe, took some passengers to the bush, while others who were able to escape, reappeared at the scene. They included four women ‘sobbing’ on the road side”.

One of the distressed women, narrated how she escaped the kidnappers.

“They led us into a huge forest, they just point at you, and tell you to follow them. Some of us were apprehended, because they percieved we came from a rich background. I told them I was pregnant, that was why they allowed me to go,” she lamented.
