NBC Chairman, Ikra Aliyu declare Lai Mohammed Broadcast Code illegal

Alhaji Ikra Aliyu the Chairman of Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has said yesterday in Abuja that the new code by Alhaji Lai Mohammed and acting Director-General of the Commission professor Armstrong Idachada was illegal, adding that the actions of Lai Mohammed and Armstrong Idachaba are an abuse of the powers of the Commission.

He further stressed that previous information ministers don’t interfere in review of code, pointing out that the NBC Act empowers the Commission to regulate industry standard and not the information minister, he further declared Lai Mohammed version of NBC code illegal saying it falls short of the basic regulation-making standards, full of indifference to stakeholders inconclusiveness, he concluded.
