In the early going of the Imo State governorship contest, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading.

Of the 27 local government results thus far, he has won 20 of them.

The State Collation Centre is presently in the process of compiling the election results.

In Owerri, the state capital, it began on Sunday at around two in the morning.

Although candidates from eighteen parties ran for office, All Progressives Congress governor Hope Uzodimma emerged victorious in twenty of the state’s twenty local government districts.

Achonu Nneji of the Labour Party, Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance, and Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are seen as his primary rivals.

Uzodimma was the winner in the 20 local government districts that had been declared as of 7:15 a.m. when this report was submitted.

After 20 LGAs, Uzodimma has received 429, 518 votes in total, as reported by the electoral umpire thus far.

These are: Oru East, Isu, Nkwere, Ahiazu Mbaise, Owerri West, Isiala Mbano, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Oguta, Aboh Mbaise, and Njaba; Oru West, Owerri North, Obowo, Nwangele, Orsu, Owerri Municipal, Okigwe, Ideato South, Onuimo, Ngor Okpala.

Even though there are still seven LGAs, Uzodimma has won every LGA that has been declared thus far.

Prof. Abayomi Fasina, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti in the state of Ekiti, served as the election’s returning officer. He declared a 30-minute halt so that some LG returning officers could reconcile their results.
