Tension has lingered in Imo state as yet another attack transpired at Ukworji military checkpoint along Owerri, Monday, by unknown thugs.
News made available to Obinwannem confirmed that operational vehicles were set ablaze by the thugs.
This is coming few hours after the attack on the Owerri Correctional
Facility, and Police Headquarters earlier in the day.
An eyewitness said the military men, on sighting the gunmen, took to their heels, and the assailants sets all the operational vehicles numbering five (5), ablaze.
Another eyewitness, Chioma Kanu confirmed this through Twitter, “Soldiers in Ukworji checkpoint, along Owerri Onitsha road escaped death, as they ran away, on sighting the unknown gunmen who invaded the checkpoint and set all operational vans on fire,” she said.
No casualties recorded at the course of filing this report.
