The APC Government: Failing the Nation on Every Front

The APC Government Failing the Nation on Every Front The APC Government Failing the Nation on Every Front

In a nation grappling with economic challenges, the glaring disparities in the cost of essential commodities and the minimum wage paint a disheartening picture of the APC government’s disconnect from the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians. The astronomical prices of basic goods, such as a bag of rice at 60,000 and a bag of beans at 80,000, juxtaposed against the meagre minimum wage of 30,000, highlight the government’s failure to address the fundamental needs of its citizens.

Nigerians, burdened by the escalating cost of living, find themselves allocating an overwhelming 98% of their incomes solely to meet their basic nutritional needs. This dire situation is a breeding ground for unrest, as evident in recent protests in Minna, Niger, and Kano states. The government’s inability to address the core issues of poverty and hunger is pushing the masses towards a breaking point.

The lack of electricity, food scarcity, and financial instability further compound the challenges faced by Nigerians. Insecurity is rampant, and the nation appears to be on autopilot, with no decisive leadership to steer it through these turbulent times. Instead of focusing on addressing these issues, the APC government seems more preoccupied with shifting blame onto the opposition, a diversionary tactic that does nothing to put food on the table or money in the pockets of the suffering masses.

The historical context provided reveals a pattern of misplaced priorities by the APC. From instigating protests against subsidy removal in 2012 to introducing extreme forms of economic policies in 2015, the government has consistently missed the mark. The closure of borders and the resulting economic consequences, including a 17-year-high inflation rate, speak volumes about the ill-advised decisions made by the ruling party.

It is disheartening to note that the APC, instead of focusing on policies that would uplift the nation, is likened to a “cult” more concerned with political manoeuvring than the welfare of its citizens. The callous disregard for the plight of the people is evident in the tweet-heavy, substance-lacking communication strategy employed by the APC.

The stark reality is that the APC’s misguided actions pose a threat to the very fabric of Nigeria. The call to “kill the ‘Cult of APC'” is not an exaggeration; it is a plea for a shift in priorities, a call for policies that prioritize the well-being of the citizens over political posturing. If not addressed promptly, the looming spectre of hunger and poverty might just be the force that unites the masses against a government that has lost touch with the struggles of everyday Nigerians. The time for change is now before there is nothing left for the next generation to inherit.
