Iskilu Wakili, a Fulani warlord and kidnapper, has been apprehended by operatives of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC). The Fulani born Wakili has been a great terror to the people of Oyo state; known for commiting crimes against humanity.
He was said to have orchestrated the occasional kidnapping Ibarapa residents in axis of Oyo state, and demanding huge ransom, subsequently. Not excluding seizure of farmlands, and molesting women of the said community.
Wakili was however nabbed by OPC operatives Sunday afternoon. According to a statement by the media aide of Chief Gani Adams, Kehinde Adams, the arrest was made around 1:00pm when the OPC was on a search mission for the dreaded Wakili that had been terrorising the entire Ibarapa.
Mr Kehinde also confirmed the arrest. He said details of the arrest would be communicated to the media soon.
It is important to note that Wakili’s arrest came months after Fulani herders were issued evacuation notice by popular Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo better known as Sunday Igboho following the spate in kidnapping and killings in Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun regions of Oyo state.
Earlier, it was reported that Oyo state chapters of the OPC on Sunday, February 27, arrested four suspected kidnappers in Ibarapa.
The group under the supervision of the Oyo state coordinator, comrade Rotimi Olumo, also made huge progress with the arrest of the second in command Wakilu, Isiaka Muhammadu was also arrested.
