In response to the recent coup in Niger Republic, military juntas have appointed new governors for the nation’s eight regions. The announcement was made by the coup leaders’ spokesperson, Amadou Abdramane, during a press conference held on Tuesday.

The newly appointed governors and their respective regions are as follows:

Agadez – Brigade General Ibro Boulama
Dosso – Brigadier General Iro Oumarou
Diffa – Brigadier General Ibrahim Bagadoma
Niamey – Brigadier General Abdou Assouman Harouna
Tahoua – Major Colonel Oumarou Tawayé
Maradi – Inspector General of Police Issoufou Mamane
Tillabery – Lieutenant Colonel Maïna Boukar
Zinder – Colonel EF Labo Issoufou
Meanwhile, the United States’ position on the coup remains neutral. The White House spokesperson, John Kirby, stated that there is no indication that Russia was involved in the coup d’état. The United States also maintains its presence in the country, as there is no identified threat to its citizens. However, the future of aid provided to Niger is yet to be decided.
