Obinwannem News COVID-19: WHO gives 6 conditions to end the COVID-19 Lockdown In Nigeria

The World Health Organization(WHO) has given strict conditions that must be observed by countries, including Nigeria, before restrictions and enforced lockdown concerning the Covid-19 pandemic can be lifted.

Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, gave the conditions on Thursday, during his weekly address to Geneva-based diplomats.

He noted that the conditions must be met, to ensure the prevention of another surge of infection, which will be worse than the previous/ ongoing.

Government must be certain that the spread of the virus is contained, simply put, health organizations must know the origin of every single case recorded and the cluster of infections.

National health systems like NCDC, must be able to find, test, isolate and treat every new case, and all recent social contacts of every infected person must be tracked down.

Countries that want to lessen the curbs, must minimize infection risks in hot spot settings, such as hospitals and nursing homes.

Hindering measures must be placed in schools, workplaces and other locations. This includes physical distancing, hygiene etiquettes and possibly, temperature measurements, according to the WHO guidelines.

Countries must manage the risks of importing new cases from abroad or if within the country, from overly infected states to almost virus free states, by detecting infected travelers and quarantining people arriving from hot spot locations .

Lastly, it is imperative that communities are fully educated, engaged and empowered to adjust to the new norms that aim to prevent further infection.
