Newcastle United end Arsenal's EPL unbeaten run Newcastle United end Arsenal's EPL unbeaten run

Newcastle United put an end to Arsenal’s undefeated run in the Premier League this season, with VAR allowing Anthony Gordon’s disputed goal to stand in their 1-0 victory.

The manner of Arsenal’s first loss in 11 league games left a bitter taste in their mouths.

During the match, there were numerous contentious moments, including Joelinton’s challenge on Arsenal’s Gabriel, leading to Gordon’s close-range goal.

Arsenal protested both the foul and the ball allegedly going out of play before Joe Willock’s cross.

The game featured several heated incidents, with Kai Havertz of Arsenal and Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle fortunate to escape red cards.

This defeat was a painful setback for Arsenal, following their exit from the League Cup at the hands of West Ham.

As of now, Arsenal sits in third place in the league, three points behind leaders Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s victory was the icing on the cake after their League Cup triumph over Manchester United.

The first half was characterized by intense physical play, with both teams lacking precision in the final third. Neither side managed a shot on target in the opening half-hour.

The match became increasingly contentious, particularly when Havertz’s reckless challenge sparked a confrontation between the teams. Havertz received only a yellow card, much to the surprise of the opposing players.

Despite a few chances, neither team demonstrated clinical finishing. Newcastle took the lead in a controversial manner after 64 minutes, securing a memorable victory.
