EBONYI – An unidentified man, who was perceived as a suicide bomber, was confirmed dead, after the ‘body explosives’ he wore, did blow up.

This is coming a couple of hours after five policemen were allegedly killed, by unknown thugs in Enugu State.

The incident occurred close to the biggest market, Eke Market, in Afikpo town, Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

An eyewitness revealed that the incident happened Tuesday afternoon, while the supposed suicide bomber trying to enter a school, was caught in their web.

“He made an attempt entering Amaizu Amangballa Primary School, but was turned back by the school security, since he couldn’t justify his reason for visiting. He immediately started running inside a nearby bush, before a big bang was heard,” the source said.

“People around the area began scampering for safety, when the ‘bomb’ exploded,” it narrated.

On reaching the scene of the incident, a few minutes later, they discovered, the suspected suicide bomber, lying dead in a pool of his blood.

The upper part of the suspected suicide bomber’s body was completely destroyed, from the impact of the explosive.

Resident, around the incident, including traders, were put in a state of panic, over the incident.

However, the Commissioner for Internal Security in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro, confirmed the incident, but was yet to give details of what transpired.
