Residents of Port Harcourt Road and Niger Street in Fegge, Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, experienced a moment of jubilation as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo inspected the completed Port Harcourt road and engaged in a town hall meeting with Fegge landlords and residents on Friday.

Governor Soludo, addressing the gathering, expressed dissatisfaction with inter-state buses blocking drainages and mandated a five-meter clearance from the drainages. He emphasized his commitment to making Fegge “the best neighbourhood anyone can live in” and announced plans to construct a new General Hospital, set to be completed before the year’s end.

To promote a green, clean, and sustainable environment, Governor Soludo announced an incentive scheme totalling N18 million for the three cleanest and greenest streets in Fegge. He detailed that the best street would receive N10 million, the second-best N5 million, and the third N3 million. Furthermore, he proposed a partnership with landlords for property beautification, offering subsidized paint sourced from “made-in-Anambra” manufacturers.

Governor Soludo also addressed power supply issues, promising the installation of transformers next week to alleviate overloading and the introduction of prepaid meters. Additionally, he outlined plans for implementing solar power solutions at the Anambra Fruit and Vegetable Market in Ogbaru to tackle electricity shortages, intending to upgrade the market into one of the state’s largest.

Earlier in the meeting, Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South, Hon. Emeka Joseph Orji, expressed gratitude for Governor Soludo’s commitment to development, highlighting the completed construction of Port Harcourt Road and Niger Street.

Other speakers at the event commended the governor’s initiatives, including employing youths through the “One Youth Two Skills” initiative, road rehabilitation efforts, and the crackdown on criminal activities. They urged continued support for Soludo’s administration to ensure sustained progress and development in the state.

In conclusion, the event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Chief of Protocol, Commissioner for Environment, MD of Aswama, MD of Anambra Urban Regeneration Council, and the Chairman of Onitsha North Local Government Area caretaker committee, among others.

The town hall meeting concluded on a note of optimism, with residents expressing confidence in Governor Soludo’s leadership and pledging support for his vision of a prosperous and sustainable Anambra State.
