FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE: The dangers of loving money more than national development with the Igbo people

It is a common trait among many individuals to prioritize personal financial gain over the development of their nation. This is a practice that needs to be discouraged as it hinders progress and causes more harm than good.

Loving money more than national development is a dangerous path that leads to corruption and other societal vices. People who prioritize their financial gain over national development tend to engage in corrupt practices such as embezzlement, bribery, and other illegal activities. These practices hinder the growth of the nation and ultimately lead to the underdevelopment of the country.

Furthermore, when people put their personal financial gain ahead of national development, it leads to a lack of accountability and transparency. This is because people who prioritize their financial gain will do everything possible to cover up their corrupt activities. They will also resist any attempts to investigate or hold them accountable for their actions.

In addition, the dangers of loving money more than national development are not limited to corruption and lack of accountability. It also leads to a lack of investment in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure. People who prioritize their financial gain will not invest in these sectors unless they can see a direct financial gain. This leads to a situation where the country is underdeveloped and lacks critical infrastructure and services.

Moreover, loving money more than national development is a dangerous practice because it leads to inequality. People who prioritize their financial gain tend to accumulate wealth at the expense of others. This creates a situation where a few individuals have a disproportionate amount of wealth while others struggle to make ends meet. This leads to a society that is divided along economic lines, with the poor being left behind.

In conclusion, the dangers of loving money more than national development cannot be overstated. It leads to corruption, lack of accountability, underdevelopment, and inequality. As Igbo people, we must prioritize the development of our nation over personal financial gain. We must hold our leaders accountable and demand transparency in all government dealings. We must also invest in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure to ensure that our country develops and grows. It is only by doing these things that we can create a society that is equitable, just, and prosperous for all.
