The Governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Soludo on Wednesday met with Transport and Market union leaders to announce the new changes in their operations for the development of the state .

The meeting was held at Prof Dora Akunyili women development centre in Awka. The meeting was attended by several market and transport union leaders in their uniforms.

The governor explained the reason why the changes is vital to support the Government of Anambra State to enable it attract other state to emulate its modernize strategies .

Soludo in a statement disclosed on Wednesday said the aim of the changes is to make Anambra habitable, prosperous and enviable due to its innovations.

He said these can only be achieved if the people are willing to support the government through prompt payment of tax .

He said, “We have come here to interact, and dialogue ,part of my agenda is to make Anambra great, we will collect revenue, and not give anyone. The oil money from Nigeria is finished, no money has being paid into the State account for five months , NNPC has not paid a dime, we need money for many project.

“Therefore anymoney generated from tax obtained from keke, bus, and others transporters should be paid directly into the government account, once it is paid into the government account you will be entitled to go into public bar, nobody will stop you, even if you want to carry ten, twenty or fifty turn , nobody will stop you.

“All public parks owned by government will become government workers, all you need is a valid permit to be granted access to operate”.

The Governor also said that the parks will be installed with mordernized and standard technology to grant access to people with valid permit to operate.He however, stated that Anambra transport system will be modernized to have emergency parks, bus stops to ensure orderliness.

Soludo assured the union leaders that five percent generated from the revenue will go back to them.

Similarly, he addressed the market caretaker committee members on the change in operations forthwith, ” You are forbidden to collect any money from the market , your job is to ensure that everybody in the market pays, once they pay five percent will return to your union”, he said.
