At least 6 people have been confirmed dead in the car accident along Nsukka- Enugu road on Monday.

A commuter bus carrying passengers travelling to the North collided with a heavy vehicle said to be carrying sand at Opi Agu in Nsukka Local government area of Enugu state.

The truck had lost control due to a mechanical fault which caused one of its rear tires to spin in the direction of the opposite traffic. The tire had crashed into the bus first while the heavy truck crashed into the bus seconds later, killing 6 people instantly.

A statement by the Federal Road Safety Corps described the accident as unfortunate.

A quick response by men of the road safety and other security agents was commended by eyewitnesses who told Obinwanem that multiple passengers in the DIEU MERCY bus sustained injuries and they were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
