Apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, under the leadership of Prof. George Obiozor, has admonished the new set up security outfit, Ebubeagu, and the Eastern Security Network, established by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to pull their collective efforts towards ending insecurity in the region; and avoid being enemies.

Meanwhile, the South-East Governors in their meeting, Sunday, in Owerri, announced the formation of the regional security network codenamed ‘Ebube agu’.

Obinwannem News had earlier reported S’East govs establish ‘Ebubeagu’ security outfit, to curb insecurity challenges

This development has attracted some controversies and concerns among individuals; for a possible clash between the two security outfit.

IPOB has clearly stated an impending doom for any operator of Ebubeagu to spy on Eastern Security Network.

“Anybody joining Ebubeagu to spy on ESN should prepare to meet their ancestor,” IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu said.

The Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Osiguzuro , reacted to this development, stating that there was need for collaboration to protect the region.

He said; “Ohaneze supports any security attempts, or arrangement that will help Ndigbo to curb the nefarious activities and violent killings in the Southeast by the murderous extremist – killer herdsmen.

“We accept both the Ebubeagu Security Network (ESN), and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) as both were craftly designed for the territorial security of Southeast and should be supported by every Igbo man.

“It’s a blessing in disguise that South-East has two security network against a common enemy killer herdsmen terrorists.”

He further said the organization was aware of “the desperation exhibited by external detractors trying to foist crises; distrust the process, and create egocentric tussles between IPOB’s Eastern Security Network and Southeast Governors Ebubeagu Security Network.

“Ohaneze congratulates both the Southeast Governor and the IPOB on their attempt to forestall further killings and violence in the Southeast. We will tirelessly enforce understanding and harmony between all stakeholders in the Southeast on the need for peaceful coexistence between “ESN and Ebubeagu ” in defending territorial integrity of Southeast.

“Security is local. Every Igbo man should understand the perilous situation Igbos (sic) are in for. Ohaneze will stop any rivalry between ESN and Ebubeagu Security Network. We will unite them as sister organization, aimed at solving security challenges in the Southeast.

“Ndigbo should support both groups, and there should be synergy with all security formations in the Southeast to end banditry.”
