The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has attributed the current power outage in parts of South East Nigeria to the ongoing nationwide strike led by organized labour.
According to Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communications at EEDC, the strike’s task force forcefully evacuated workers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations, impacting supply in areas such as New Haven, Abakaliki, Ugwuaji, Oji River, Agu Awka, Nibo, Ohiya, and Awada TCN stations.
The affected regions include Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, and Umuahia District in Abia State, with only Nru TCN Station in Nsukka still maintaining electricity supply.
The statement expresses regret for the inconvenience caused to customers and anticipates a swift resolution to restore power.
