Ebonyi Gov’s Wife Solicits Support On Fight Against Child Trafficking, Gender-Based Violence

The Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, has called for support in her efforts to combat child trafficking, gender-based violence, and other forms of abuse against women and children. She made this call during a courtesy visit by wives of State Executive Council (Exco) members to her office at Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki.

During the meeting, Mrs. Nwifuru expressed her excitement at the visit and emphasized the importance of the Exco spouses in setting positive examples for women across the state. She encouraged them to exhibit uniqueness in both character and action, urging them not to depend solely on their husbands financially. Instead, she encouraged them to engage in meaningful trades to contribute to their families well-being, considering the prevailing economic realities.

Addressing the Exco spouses, the Governor’s wife advised against causing trouble within their families, noting that such actions could lead to a lack of performance in their husbands’ appointive positions. She stressed the need for harmonious family environments and encouraged the women to pray for their spouses’ success in their official duties.

Chief Mrs. Nwifuru took the opportunity to enlist the support of the Exco spouses in her fight against gender-based violence, child trafficking, child labor, and neglect. These are critical issues that require collective efforts to bring about positive change and protect the vulnerable members of society.

In response, Barrister Mrs. Peace Odoh, leader of the Exco spouses’ delegation and wife of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, expressed their appreciation to the Governor’s wife and her husband for giving their husbands the opportunity to serve in the present administration. She assured Mrs. Nwifuru that they would not disappoint the first family and pledged their commitment to collaborate with her to achieve her set goals.

Mrs. Nkechi Echiegu, wife of the Chief of Staff, also thanked the Governor’s wife for the privilege of meeting with her and promised to make her proud. The unity and cooperation among the Exco spouses were evident, and they expressed their readiness to work hand in hand with the First Lady in tackling the societal issues that require urgent attention.

Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru’s dedication to fighting child trafficking, gender-based violence, and other abuses is commendable. By enlisting the support of the Exco spouses, she aims to create a broader impact and foster a safer environment for women and children in Ebonyi State. With concerted efforts and partnerships, the fight against these pressing issues can gain momentum and lead to positive change in the region.
